How to play Brick Breaker

Brick Breaker is a classic arcade game. A ball bounces around the screen, and you move a paddle along the bottom to keep it in play. Every brick the ball touches cracks, and when all bricks are gone you move on to the next pattern. Let the ball fall past your paddle three times and the game ends.

Move the mouse or drag your finger across the game to slide the paddle, or use the left and right arrow keys or A and D. Tap the game or press Space to launch the ball. Where the ball lands on the paddle decides its angle: the centre sends it straight up, while the edges send it off sharply to the side, which is how you aim for the last few bricks.

Bricks are colour coded. Blue bricks break in one hit, purple in two, pink in three and gold in four. Each hit scores 10 points, a broken brick adds a bonus, and clearing a level gives 100 more. The ball speeds up a little with every hit, and later levels repeat the patterns with tougher bricks.

Try to break a hole through to the top: once the ball is above the bricks it bounces around and clears them for you.
