How to use the Image Resizer
Photos straight from a phone or camera are often several thousand pixels wide, far larger than a website, email or social profile needs. Resizing them makes uploads quicker, saves bandwidth and helps pages load faster.
Choose an image or drag it onto the box. The original dimensions and file size appear, and you can type a new width or height. With “Keep aspect ratio” ticked, changing one value adjusts the other so the picture is never stretched. The scale buttons shrink the image to 25, 50 or 75 percent in one click. Pick JPG for photographs, PNG when you need transparency or sharp graphics, or WebP for small files with good quality.
The preview and the new file size update automatically. When you are happy, press Download. For JPG and WebP you can lower the quality slider to cut the file size; values between 70 and 90 usually look nearly identical to the original. Transparent areas turn white when saved as JPG because that format does not support transparency.
Your image is processed locally using the HTML canvas in your browser. It is never uploaded, so private photos stay private and the tool works even with a slow connection. Keep the originals safe, because enlarging a small image later cannot restore lost detail.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos, PNG for graphics and transparency, WebP for the smallest files with good quality on modern browsers.
Why does the file get bigger when I enlarge the image?
More pixels need more data. Enlarging cannot add real detail, so only make images bigger when necessary.
