How to use the Background Remover

Product photos, logos, signatures and portraits on a plain backdrop are much more useful with a transparent background. You can place them on any slide, website or design without an ugly white box around them. This background remover works with the colour-key method that studios use with green screens: it removes pixels that are close to one chosen colour.

Choose an image and the tool guesses the background colour from the four corners. If the guess is wrong, simply click the background in the preview. Raise Tolerance until the backdrop disappears; if parts of your subject start to vanish, lower it again. Edge softness blends the border so hair and curved edges look natural rather than jagged.

The default mode removes only background that touches the edge of the picture, so a white shirt in the middle of a white-background portrait is kept. Switch to “everywhere” to knock out a colour across the whole image, which is handy for logos and scanned signatures. You can also replace the background with a solid colour and save a JPG.

Everything happens on your device, so the photo is never uploaded. The method works best with an even, single-colour background and good contrast. Busy scenes with many colours need an AI tool or manual editing.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is processed with the canvas in your browser and never leaves your device.

Why does part of my subject disappear?

Its colour is too close to the background colour. Lower the tolerance, or keep the default edges-only mode so enclosed areas are protected.

Can it remove complex backgrounds?

It is designed for plain or nearly plain backgrounds such as white walls, studio paper or green screens. Busy scenes need AI-based or manual tools.
