How to use the Markdown to HTML Converter
Markdown is a simple way to format text with ordinary characters: a hash for a heading, asterisks for bold, a dash for a list item. It is used in README files, documentation, forums, note apps and static site generators. This converter turns it into HTML you can paste into a website, email template or content management system.
Type on the left and the preview updates instantly. The converter supports headings, paragraphs and line breaks (end a line with two spaces), bold, italic and strikethrough, inline code and fenced code blocks with a language label, links and images with optional titles, block quotes, horizontal rules, ordered and unordered lists with nesting, task-list checkboxes and tables with column alignment, following the familiar GitHub style.
Switch to the HTML tab to see the generated markup, then copy it or download a complete web page. Code blocks get a language class, which works with syntax highlighters such as Prism or highlight.js.
For safety, any raw HTML in your Markdown is shown as text rather than executed, and links using javascript: are blocked, so the output is safe to paste into other pages. Conversion happens entirely in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Which Markdown flavour is supported?
Common Markdown plus popular GitHub extensions: tables, task lists, strikethrough and fenced code blocks.
Can I include raw HTML?
Raw HTML is escaped and shown as text for safety. Add it to the generated HTML afterwards if you need it.
Does the preview match GitHub exactly?
It is very close for everyday documents. Rare edge cases of the specification may render slightly differently.
