Extractive summary: the tool picks the most important sentences from your text using a TextRank-style algorithm. It does not write new sentences and uses no AI service.

How to use the Text Summarizer

When you need the gist of a long article, report, essay or email thread, a summary saves time. This summarizer works instantly and privately, because it runs entirely in your browser rather than sending your text to an AI service.

It uses an extractive method based on TextRank, the same idea behind early search-engine ranking. The text is split into sentences, and each sentence is compared with every other one by the meaningful words they share. Sentences that are similar to many others are the most central to the topic, so they score highest. Small bonuses go to an opening sentence and to sentences containing the most frequent key terms. The top sentences are then shown in their original order so the summary still reads naturally.

Choose a fixed number of sentences or a percentage of the original. Tick bullet points for quick notes. Below the summary you see word counts, how much shorter it is and the key terms of the text.

Because it selects real sentences rather than writing new ones, the summary never invents facts. However, it may include a sentence that depends on context, such as one starting with “This”. It works best on well-structured, factual English text.

Frequently asked questions

Does it use AI?

It uses a classic ranking algorithm, not a large language model. That makes it fast, private and free, and it never makes up facts.

How long can the text be?

Thousands of words work fine. Very long books may take a moment on slower phones.

Is my text stored?

No. Everything is processed in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.
