How to play Darts

Darts gives you nine darts, thrown in three rounds of three, at a full dartboard. Your goal is the highest possible total. The board is numbered 1 to 20 around the edge. The thin outer ring doubles a number, the thin inner ring trebles it, the green outer bull is worth 25 and the red bullseye is worth 50. The highest single throw is treble 20, worth 60.

Move your aim over the board with the mouse, by dragging your finger, or with the arrow keys. Like a real hand, the aim drifts slightly in a gentle loop, so watch it and release the mouse or finger, or press Space, at the right moment. On touch screens the aim sits a little above your finger so you can see it.

Choose Steady, Normal or Shaky to change how much the aim drifts. Each throw shows its score, and the list under the board keeps a record of all your throws. A perfect game of nine treble 20s would score 540.

Beginners often score more by aiming at the bullseye or the big singles than by chasing trebles. Once your timing improves, go for treble 20 or treble 19.
